Adalberto Gonzales Santana: body language and lighting play a very important role.

What inspired you to dedicate yourself to portrait photography and how did you discover your passion for editorial work?

I was inspired by the way each person's personality is marked, since a portrait expresses personality, emotions and characters, I felt interested in editorial work because I said I need my work to scale and navigate through magazines, so I can show the world what I want to express

How has the fact of having grown up and lived in Peralvillo, Monte Plata province, influenced your artistic vision and style in photography?

Where I live, creativity and the reflection of being yourself is limited by the desire to be authentic, it is there where I understood that I had to do something different, something with which I could identify myself and therefore feel comfortable and happy doing it.

Editorial photography requires a strong narrative. How do you approach the creation of stories through your portraits?

A good portrait requires patience and serenity. When I enter a photo shoot, my vision is always to get the best out of each model, making her feel comfortable so she can get the best out of herself.

Can you explain your creative process when planning and executing an editorial session?

I always look at magazines to look for trends in order to create an outline where I add what makeup to use, clothing, and so on, so that no detail is left half-finished or unfinished.

What do you consider to be the most challenging aspect of portrait photography and how do you overcome it?

Each face, or rather, each person is different, and they function differently, which means that the technique I use for one does not necessarily work for the other. That is where I recognized that I had to adapt to the changes and study the behavior of the model.

How do you stay inspired and make sure that each portrait you capture has a unique artistic touch?

I always keep up with trends, through magazines and social media.

In your opinion, what elements make a portrait truly captivating?

In my opinion, body language and lighting play a very important role.

Are there photographers or artists who have had a significant influence on your work?

Yes

Can you share a memorable experience of a session in which everything went perfectly?

Yes, my first cover which was in collaboration with Arlin Tiburcio, where everything flowed incredibly, the lighting was on point, the model flowing, her collage language was perfect. It was really incredible the results we managed to achieve.

How do you manage to balance the technical and emotional aspects of photography when capturing your subjects?

It is a job of connecting with the client and in such a way that they feel comfortable, music, conversation, good comments, among others. These are techniques I use to achieve balance and to be able to bring out the best in each subject

As someone who loves creating art through photography, how do you stay up to date with trends while still maintaining your personal style?

Always looking and following creative work through social media and the like

What are your future aspirations in photography? Is there a specific project or theme you would like to explore?

I really love the art of painting and what it reflects, I want to create painting art and lots of

color through photography that can impact and go through all the corners
