Can you give us a bit of background on how your career evolved?
I only just started my modeling career a little over a year ago. What started as an annual birthday gift to myself has turned into something far more fulfilling than I could’ve ever imagined. Modeling has given me yet another way to interact with the world through the lens of an artist. For that, I’m eternally grateful.
What's been the biggest highlight in your career so far?
Not only have I found confidence and inspiration while engaging in my craft, I’ve realized that those I share it with find the same in themselves. Women have come to me expressing the strength they’ve found in their truth, by watching me live in mine. Black women, especially, see reflections of their own beauty in my work. That means everything to me and has been and will continue to be the highlight of my career.
If you could say one thing to someone younger who looks up to you, what would you say?
Take your time. Don’t let anyone influence you to rush through life. There’s no timer, nor timeline. What’s meant for you will be, at the right time. Life isn’t solely about the destination, but about the journey. It is within that winding path that you find the richest parts of self.
Using one word how would you describe your art?
Empowering.
Who is the person that inspires you the most and why?
It’s not the sole person that inspires me, but the exchange between my audience and I. To know the work I’m involved in has sparked emotion in someone else inspires me. I want to make people feel things.
If you can have the power to share anything with the world, what would that be?
Knowledge of self, your surroundings, and the spaces you may come to be. There’s great power in knowing. Education and knowledge are one of the many keys to freedom.
What are your goals for the near future and do you have any exciting project you want to share with us?
As for the near future, my goals are just to continue to improve my craft. To reach higher, to dream bigger in hopes that others find that they can too.
