A person can resist nature, and can live with it in harmony. Be inspired by it. Enjoy its colors, landscapes, or such little things as plants. Everyone does this every day.
Please briefly tell us about your background. Who is Ekaterina Mayurchenko as an artist?
My whole life is connected with creativity. I've been drawing since I was a kid. She studied at the art school and at the art university. She worked for about 8 years as a designer. Fashion has always interested me. Gradually, I began to shoot. As an artist, I want to create images that excite me. It's always something different. Man and nature, a new reading of a style, style and art.
What do you want to achieve through fashion?
Fashion and images are a language, an opportunity to speak to the audience. I don't want to change the world, I want to have a heart-to-heart conversation. But these heartfelt conversations are not always about something easy and beautiful. These can be very complex topics. It is important for me to be heard and to think about it.
How would you describe your work to someone who has never seen it? Is there any message you would like your photos to convey?
I draw a lot of resources from nature. In my works, you can often see the interaction of man and nature. And it's always different. And that's really important to me.
How do you keep yourself productive and retain your creative edge?
In order to avoid creative burnout, I prefer to alternate projects. And of course to relax in nature.
How is working in fashion different today than from when you started out?
I haven't been in the profession that long. But among the differences, I can name the dynamic development of designer clothing and showrooms. This allows you to find interesting things and accessories for filming. I worked in Belarus with different designers. They are very creative people.
Who is the person that inspires you the most and why?
More than anything, I am inspired by nature and art. In nature, I find interesting combinations of colors and textures. For example, I see rocks covered with moss and imagine the image of a girl who can sit on it. I can imagine her mood. I begin to think through the image, think through clothes, make-up, select poses. I always imagine the light. This is very important! In different lights, the same things work differently.
What kind of impact do you hope to make in the fashion world?
This is a complex but interesting question. The main influence on the fashion world is provided by fashion designers and street styles. I can isolate from their ideas what is important to me. Use a stylized photo to draw attention to this. Discuss important things with the audience! I like the way the fashion world is developing.
In your daily routine, what resources do you like to learn new things about art, fashion?
The main resources are real exhibitions. Works of art seen live will never compare to an electronic copy. These can be large well-known museums of the world or small ethnographic ones. It's always amazing! Through Ranway Magazine, I track new clothing collections.
What has been the highlight of your career so far and what are your hopes/dreams for the future?
The highlight of my career was my collaboration with Vyacheslav Zaitsev (Russian fashion designer). An incredibly kind and energetic person.
