From Social Anxiety to Supermodel: Natasha Coleman-Ball's Journey to Redefining Confidence and Success in Fashion

Natasha, you started your modeling and acting career at just 10 years old. What inspired you to pursue this path at such a young age?

As a young child, I was struggling with early social anxiety and insecurities. I was extremely shy and found it hard to talk to people. My parents saw something in me that I didn’t quite understand. But against my better judgement they enrolled me in acting and modeling school, and it was only growth from there.

You enrolled in John Robert Powers at the age of 10. How did that experience shape your early career, and what was one of the most valuable lessons you learned there?

Formal training has allowed me to develop skills at a young age versus spending years perfecting my craft. Although I’m not perfect and I’m always learning, having that experience opened doors for me to form connections. Those connections is what has gotten me here today. I would say starting early has taught me how to be a profesional and how to handle adversity, so when I heard those “no’s” I was able to turn it into lessons to become a better model.

You’ve earned numerous titles throughout your career, including National American Miss Top Model and East Coast USA Supermodel Supreme. What do these accomplishments mean to you personally and professionally?

These accomplishments have validated me in regard to me knowing what I want to do in my life. Modeling is my passion and I often struggle with self-doubt. However, when I see my hard work pay off, it gives me motivation to keep going and keep dreaming big.

What was it like to compete and hold titles on both a local and international scale, such as at events like World’s Perfect Miss Supermodel and Top Model Miami?

Competing in such prestigious modeling events can be nerve wracking but exciting as well. Not only are you able to expand your network and meet people that can take your career further, but you are able to serve as a role model and help other models as well.

You’ve had the incredible opportunity to model at prestigious events like NYFW, L.A. Fashion Week, and Milan Fashion Week. Can you share a memorable experience from any of these events?

One of my most memorable experiences from NYFW was getting a chance to see my face in Times Square on a billboard. I will never forget seeing my name in shining lights.

Being featured on billboards in over seven different cities must have been surreal. Which city or campaign stands out the most to you, and why?

I think New York will always be THE BILLBOARD, the city is one of the most iconic areas of fashion, modeling, and entertainment. Being able to be featured in one of the most popular places in the New York, is truly amazing.

Your career has also spanned multiple fashion weeks, from Miami Swim Week to London Fashion Week. How do the experiences differ between these global fashion capitals?

Miami is full of vibrancy, culture, and creativity and when it comes to fashion, you can guarantee and grand show full of color and fun. However, London speaks a different language in fashion, innovation and class exudes from this place and its filled with timeless energy.

You recently won the Adult Runway Model of The Year title. How did it feel to receive such recognition, and what do you think this award means for your future in the industry?

It feels refreshing to know that my goal in life is to not only be a successful model but to also be a mentor to others. I want my clients to know that they are in good hands and I truly have what it takes to help them succeed as well.

Throughout your career, what has been the most challenging moment, and how did you overcome it?

The most challenging moment is being told I wasn’t “Marketable” by a modeling agency. Bouncing back from this scrutiny took a toll on my confidence but I had to realize that if I gave up, then I would be letting myself and those that look up to me down.

With your business management degree and experience in the industry, how do you balance the business side of your career with the creative and performance aspects?

I believe it goes hand and hand. By owning a modeling company and having the experience, I am able to put on events and create ideas that make people want more. My goal is to create an unforgettable experience when you see my work.

What advice would you give to aspiring models and pageant contestants who look up to you and want to follow in your footsteps?

Just keep going and understand that in this industry, there will be many people that will judge you and criticize you. Take those words and prove those people wrong. Always be open to learning and don’t hold back, if you want it, then do it.

Looking ahead, what are your goals for the next chapter of your career, and how do you envision your legacy in the modeling and fashion industry?

I want to eventually work with major brands and companies. Open up doors for models who’ve worked hard and help provide them with the opportunities they deserve. I want everyone to be able to experience their passion and not be afraid of the industry. Serving as a catalyst for change is my goal and I will do my best to make it happen.
