Katerina Medvedeva: I like to review the works of old fashion magazines

When did your passion for photography start and what were the main milestones that turned you into the artist you currently are?

I have had a love for photography since childhood. The main impetus for me to start shooting on my own, as a photographer, was that I wanted to show my outfits brightly, beautifully and aesthetically.

You have a very unique style. How would you describe your photography to someone who has never seen it?

My photo is artistically staged. I like to think through every detail in the frame. Therefore, it is very important for me that everything in the frame is in perfect harmony.

What's the best part of being a photographer? What do you love the most about your job?

For me, the best thing about being a photographer is the end result. When I see the final photo as the result of a lot of work by our entire creative team.

In your opinion, what is the difference between fashion and beauty photography? What's your favorite?

Fashion photography is something bright and emotional. Beauty photography is more about the beauty of a portrait.

My favorite dish is fried potatoes

How do you keep yourself motivated and your photography fresh?

I like to review the works of old fashion magazines and the works of my favorite photographers.

You bring a very high production value to your work. What is your retouching/production philosophy? How important is Photoshop in your final images?

At the shooting stage, it is important that the location, outfit and model are in harmony and the plot has been thought out in advance. And in post-production with Photoshop tools, I only bring the final picture to the full ideal.

Are you the sort of photographer who plans for every minuscule detail or are you more spontaneous with your creations? Where do you find the majority of your inspiration?

Details are very important to me, because they greatly affect the final perception of the picture. I draw most of my inspiration from the works of famous photographers such as Helmut Newton or Thierry Mugler, who was the designer and photographer of many of his creations.

What services do you provide and what does your "team" consist of?

My team has a wonderful makeup artist who perfectly feels all my wishes and wishes of the client, as well as my wonderful assistant who helps on the set.

What is typically in your camera bag and what is your favorite photography accessory, other than your camera?

There are always a lot of spare flash cards in my camera bag, because sometimes shooting lasts for 8-9 hours without stopping.

My favorite accessories on the set are jewelry (earrings, rings and bracelets) I always have a lot of them. I like to mix them in images and complement any outfit with them.

What are your future plans/goals for the next couple of years?

In the next couple of years, I plan to start training aspiring photographers and give them information that I lacked so much when I started shooting as a photographer myself.

Where can our readers keep up with your work and get connected with you?
