Can you tell us about the vision behind DFPGLAMOUR and what inspired you to start it?
DFPGLAMOUR was born from a shared passion for beauty, art, and storytelling. When we met, David was working in catalog e-commerce photography—a technically demanding but creatively unfulfilling job—while UV had a deep interest in photography. Glamour photography became an artistic escape, a space where we could create something meaningful together.
David's original brand, David Fok Photography (DFP), laid the foundation, but we wanted to take it further—melding our skills and perspectives to create a brand that felt both personal and powerful.
At the heart of DFPGLAMOUR is an appreciation for the human form. Society has long shamed and censored it, but we see it as powerful, raw, and endlessly inspiring. Our mission is to create timeless, elegant photography that helps clients and brands visualize themselves as art—transforming the way they see themselves while capturing their true essence.
Our style is emotional yet natural, preserving texture and realism. We enhance beauty without altering it, ensuring every image feels both striking and authentic.

How did you and UV decide to collaborate, and what unique strengths do each of you bring to the brand?
David brings over a decade of photography experience, giving him the technical mastery to control every element of an image. He thrives on precision, ensuring every detail is intentional. UV, on the other hand, thrives in chaos—ideas pour out of her at breakneck speed, allowing her to fuse elements in unexpected and innovative ways.
Together, we offer a balance of focus and spontaneity, structure and creativity. But beyond our individual strengths, our biggest asset is our dual perspective as man and woman. The male gaze often brings sharp determination but risks reducing the figure to just a sexual object. The female gaze, however, sees the whole person—the essence beneath the surface. That’s where the power lies. At DFPGLAMOUR, we merge these perspectives to capture the human form as more than just an object, but as an instrument of emotion, inspiration, and artistry.
Having the best guitar doesn’t make you a great musician—you need skill, vision, and artistry to bring it to life. That’s our approach to photography: we don’t just capture beauty, we shape it into something meaningful.

What sets DFPGLAMOUR apart from other fashion brands or creative projects in the industry?
Our approach to beauty is tasteful yet unapologetic. We strike a balance between elegance and boldness, ensuring that every image feels powerful, intentional, and timeless. We don’t chase trends; we create work that speaks for itself.
What truly sets us apart is our perspective. We merge technical expertise with raw creativity, offering both the male and female gaze to shape our vision. This duality allows us to create images that go beyond just looking good—they mean something.
At the end of the day, standing out isn’t just about style—it’s about substance. And that’s what DFPGLAMOUR delivers.

Can you describe some of the biggest challenges you've faced in building DFPGLAMOUR and how you overcame them?
Sticking to our vision comes at a price. The biggest challenge isn’t the creative process—it’s everything else. Marketing, business management, and logistics take time and energy, and they’re not our strong suits, but they’re essential for long-term success.
We’re always working to improve—refining our systems, streamlining our process, and honing our craft. Balancing artistry with business is a constant challenge, but growth comes from adaptation, and we embrace that.
What has been your most memorable project or collaboration so far, and why?
The images we submitted to this magazine are among our favorites—funnily enough, they came about because of a headache, quite literally.
We had the privilege of working with Ashley and her husband Kyle as part of a larger project during a tour of Africa. The Namib Desert, with its stark yet striking beauty, was a dream location for us. Ashley was an exceptional model—not only technically skilled, knowing her angles and how to emote effortlessly, but also incredibly determined. She did her own makeup every day, often waking at 4 AM to prepare by headlamp inside a tent before sunrise shoots.

When we finally arrived in the Namib Desert, it was 40°C+ (104°F), with relentless winds and sand stinging our faces. Ashley powered through for hours, but during one shoot, as our assistant reflected light onto her face, the pain in her head became unbearable. She collapsed, crying from the sheer intensity of her migraine.
Thankfully, a lodge manager helped us connect her to a doctor via emergency satellite call, and medication was flown in the next day. With the shoot temporarily halted, we took advantage of the unexpected downtime—and that’s when this exact set of images was created. It was a reminder that in photography, as in life, things rarely go as planned—but if you stay open to the moment, magic can still happen.
How do you stay ahead of trends while maintaining your brand’s unique identity?
We want to push the boundaries of glamour—making it bolder, more open, and more dramatic. Right now, we’re focused on travel-based projects, using unconventional locations to create unique, standout work. Beyond that, we aim to integrate deeper storytelling, creating images that empower clients and brands beyond just the photoshoot.

What role does inclusivity and diversity play in your brand’s vision and approach?
At DFPGLAMOUR, we don’t discriminate—ever. It doesn’t matter if you’re thick or thin, Black, White, Brown, or Red. What matters is respect and a shared commitment to creating the best work possible.
Diversity isn’t a buzzword for us—it’s who we are. I come from a mixed background and grew up in Hong Kong, UV is South Asian, and we now live and work in Vancouver, one of the most diverse cities in the world. This global perspective naturally shapes our work. We believe beauty isn’t confined to a single standard, and our goal is to capture each subject in their most powerful, authentic form.
How do you see DFPGLAMOUR evolving in the next few years? Any exciting future projects?
We’re especially drawn to more travel-based projects, like the ones we’ve published, but beyond that, we want to evolve past traditional glamour and boudoir by integrating deeper storytelling elements—creating work that empowers clients and brands beyond just the photoshoot.

For aspiring creatives and entrepreneurs in fashion, what advice would you give based on your journey?
Keep wanting to learn—every photoshoot is an opportunity to grow, whether it’s in technical skills, ethics, people management, or even learning to stand up for yourself. The road is tough, but it gets better as long as you stay true to yourself.
How do you and UV balance creative differences and decision-making within the partnership?
Being such different people, navigating creative differences can be a challenge. But the key is to always come back to our core values and the mission we’ve set for our brand. Sticking to our ethics helps guide decision-making, even when opinions clash.
Compromise is essential, but we never compromise on what truly matters. We approach challenges with the mindset that it’s us vs. the problem, not us vs. each other. Our different perspectives add depth to our work, pushing us to create something stronger than either of us could alone.

What’s one thing people may not know about DFPGLAMOUR that you’d love to share?
We’re a couple, and yes—we bicker in the studio. Clients find it both hilarious and endearing, and we often get comments about how well we work together (even in the middle of playful debates).
And one of the best behind-the-scenes moments? Sometimes David mirrors poses to help models get into the right flow. He’s very good at it, and it never fails to crack everyone up.
