Sofya, how did you get involved with modeling? Where are you based now?

My name is Sofya, I’m from Ekaterinburg, Russia. I have been modeling for 2 years. I am interested in all things related to fashion: news, shows, and magazines.

What do you love most about being a model? And, what do you least enjoy?

I like to participate in photo sessions and fashion shows. I try to participate in all fashion events: local shows, all kinds of fashion events in our country, and even online shows, such as Milan Fashion Week in digital format. In my opinion, it is very hard to be a young model, because people do not take kids seriously and think that it is not a profession, so it is difficult to move up the modeling business. As long as people do not assume kids modeling as a profession, we do not get paid for it, so sometimes it becomes expensive for my parents to pay for photo sessions, participation in fashion shows, makeup and all other things related to modeling,

Tell us more about yourself. What else do you do next to modeling?

I have been doing dancing and choreography for 10 years and participate in dance competitions and festivals. Although almost all my free time is spent on modeling and dancing, I have the highest grades in my class and already successfully passed several international English exams. Besides the English language, I study Chinese and Japanese, like Asian culture and cosplay.

What fuels your imagination and provides you with inspiration?

My inspiration is photography, music, and nature. I love to be a part of a professional team, it gives me a lot of energy and positive emotions, especially when I see the result of our work.

In your own eyes, how has modeling experience changed you as a person? What have you learned?

Modeling gives me a lot in my life. I learned a lot about style and fashion trends, now I use this in practice in my everyday life. Learned a lot about makeup, hairstyles, and skincare. Modeling is punctuality and responsibility for yourself and your team. Modeling gave me a chance to meet a lot of great, creative, and friendly people all over the world.

Share your wildest photo shoot/modeling story.

Once I had a photo session with peacocks and pheasants, they were not very happy to be a part of the show, so they tried to run away. At one moment I realized that the peacock's feathers were in my arm, but the peacock was already somewhere else. The whole team was shocked, but then we were told that it is normal for these birds to give its tail as a gift. Now I keep these feathers on my table as a memory of one of the most unusual photo sessions I ever had.

What is the most courageous thing you have ever done?

It is a very difficult question for me. If we talk about modeling, then it is my first photo session and fashion show. I felt very uncomfortable that everyone was watching me, but now I even like this feeling.

What is the beauty trick you do before a photoshoot?

Every photo session is very time and energy-consuming, so it is very important to have a good sleep and to be in a good mood. Because I believe that people can feel my energy in every shot.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I am a 12 years old teenager, my height is 155 sm, but all kids' fashion is divided between very small kids or 14 years old models with 170+ sm height, which are adults in fact. I do not understand why there is no industry in between.

What projects are you working on next, and what are your goals for the future?

I do everything to be a professional model: more shows, more photo sessions, more activity in social media, and more publications in magazines. I am open-minded to all ways to make kids' fashion more popular.

Where can we see more of your works and get connected with you?

I have publications in many popular magazines: Vogue, Selin, Magnet, Iconic, Selin, Sguardo, Top Posters, Marica, Edith, and many locals. You can see my portfolio on my Instagram page @sofya_wonder_.
